On The road and 'flat' out.....

We turned up in plenty of time at 'Eagle rider' hoping to pick up the bikes (booked in March ) and head for a quick getaway. A good plan but it didn't work out as there was (apparently) a lot of paperwork to get through. Any way it took till lunch time to get the bikes allocated. At this point it became clear that the Softail Classic rented by Reg wasn't quite so spacious as the other Electraglides. There was a fair bit of shoving involved to get all belongings in the panniers.on that one. Eventually we headed off in convoy led by Alan guided by his Biker Sat Nav Tom-Tom technology thing.

After finding our way out of the city and onto the freeway we got to the coast and turned south.

The experience was; well, foggy !

We went inland to follow up on Alan and Mikes wish to visit Alices' Restaurant ( goes back to a favourite Arlo Guthrie song of yeteryear )

After a ride through winding hill roads flanked by Pine and Redwood glades we found the place and had a 'healthy options' lunch. Then following highway 35 we made our way towards Monterey.

A 'gas' stop was entertaining - engineering graduates will be pleased to know that they will be able to operate the petrol (sorry, 'gas' ) pumps but other mere mortals will struggle...

Off on the road and we lost Reg only to finally get in touch by mobile with the news that

a) he was on highway 1
b) there was a puncture
st) A California Highway Patrol officer had stopped.( to help )

Bottom line - punctues on the freeway are not desirable and vehicles have to get fixed quick or be moved.

The CHP Patrol Officer had seen Reg pull off and stopped to help. We are certainly impressed by all the Officers we've met so far ( Now numbering about six - including 'Ritch' the SFPD Motorcycle officer who called in the rental shop on a superb HD Police Bike )

Basically the puncture has to be done by tomorrow AM............ guess we are up early to find a place that fixes bikes.
