Into the Air

The sun was up early today and so were we. Checking out of the hotel at 7.30 we headed 1 mile to Page Municipal Airport where we 'checked in' for our flight with 'Westwind Tours' We were introduced to our pilot - 'Derek' and the aircraft a 10 seater Cessna 'caravan'.

The sky was clear and we took off first to head over to Grand Canyon resort airport to pick up more passengers ( this would take us over the Grand Canyon ) then back over the Canyon to Monument Valley. Were we would land at the small airstrip and embark on a 4x4 tour guided by Native American staff - who run the tourist concession in the valley.

After that it was back on the aircraft for a flight over Lake Powell ( where we were on the boat yesterday ) before landing back at Page. All in it is a four hour (plus) tour.

From take off to touchdown the views were ever more spectacular....
